A much-loved York pub is set to re-open tomorrow (Tuesday).

Alison and Gary Clarkson have taken on the reins of the Sam Smith’s Brewery-owned Trafalgar Bay on Nunnery Lane.

The pub was due to reopen on September 29 but was delayed due to it needing a new dishwater and other issues.

A second re-opening date didn’t happen due to “equipment failures” in the cellar.

Now, it looks like third time lucky, as the historic pub is making its final preparations to open its doors at 11am on Tuesday.

Alison told The Press today: “We have the beers in, everything is here.

Unless there is a major disaster, we will be open tomorrow (Tue) at 11am.”

Since the couple took over the Trafalgar Bay, Alison and Gary have been busy getting the venue clean.

Alison continued: “It will be exactly as it was before but clean.”

This afternoon, the couple still had to load the fridges and do some more vacuuming.

She added: “We are almost there.

"We have had a very busy day with people calling [with supplies].

"We have had cellar services [visiting].

"We should be all good.”

As the Press has previously reported, the Tadcaster-based brewery has reopened other pubs in the area recently.

These include the Wellington Inn on Alma Terrace, Fishergate; the Tankard Inn at Rufforth, the Ebor Inn at Bishopthorpe and the Angel & White Horse in Tadcaster.

The Press also understands that, subject to the completion of renovations and repairs, The York Arms in High Petergate is due to reopen in January.
