A vineyard near York has launched a new full-bodied red wine.
Yorkshire Heart Vineyard at Nun Monkton has announced the release of Acolon.
Acolon is a rich, fruit-forward red made from a German grape variety of the same name, which the family-run vineyard has grown for several years.
Tim Spakouskas, managing director at Yorkshire Heart, said: "Having grown grape vines in Yorkshire for over 20 years, we’ve now got the experience to know what works well for us here at the vineyard.

"This knowledge, coupled with our continued investment in the vineyard and winery, and the favourable growing conditions of the last few years, has meant that the quality of our wines continues to improve year on year.
"The launch of Acolon is testament to that.
"Being able to produce such a full-bodied red here in Yorkshire wouldn’t have seemed possible even five years ago."
Until now, Acolon grapes were blended into Yorkshire Heart’s Latimer Red.
However, following an exceptional 2025 growing season, the vineyard decided the grapes merited their own single-varietal wine.
Acolon joins Yorkshire Heart’s award-winning selection of red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines.

The wine is described as deep in colour and packed with dark stone fruit flavours such as plum and cherry, along with notes of blackcurrant and blackberry.
Mr Spakouskas said: "We're not trying to make Yorkshire wine taste like wine from somewhere else.
"We're interested in making the best wine we can from the grapes we can grow here and we believe that our customers genuinely value that."
Yorkshire Heart began with just 35 vines and has grown to more than 30,000 vines across its site, cultivating 21 different grape varieties.
Acolon is now available for purchase from Yorkshire Heart Vineyard & Brewery and online, priced at £19 per bottle.
