SKIPTON was brought to a standstill this afternoon (Monday) for the funeral of a young man who died in a road collision at the end of last month.
Alfie Miller, 19, from the Richmond area, died on September 28 when the Land Rover SVR he was travelling in hit the rear of a tractor towing a trailer loaded with hay bales on the A163 near Barlby, Selby.
His family later described him as "the most kind and loving and ambitious young man you could have ever met", "irreplaceable" and "larger than life".

Despite now living in the Richmond area, the family, who have Romani heritage, had until fairly recently lived in the town, as had several generations before them, and it was in Skipton where the funeral was held.
The funeral service took place at St Stephen's Church before moving on to Waltonwrays Cemetery and afterwards, there was tea at The Skipton Hotel.
The funeral cortege was preceded by a man wearing a top hat in full morning dress and there were seven Rolls Royce cars following the hearse.

Hundreds followed the procession on foot as it made its way through the town, with accompanying music played from one of the cars.
His brother, James Miller, posted ahead of the funeral: "Everyone is welcome. Alfie was well known and a friend to everyone. He was the life of the party wherever he went and made a friend everywhere, anyone is more than welcome to come and pay their respects to him."
In the tribute, his family said: "Alfie was an extraordinary young man. He was an incredible businessman, with so much ambition, determination and drive that made him stand out from a very young age. But our Alfie was so much more than his achievements. He was our whole world, and our hearts are so broken. He was the most charismatic, charming young man. Any room he entered, he would light it up. You couldn't help but love him."
His family added: "He was larger than life, and he always had a smile on his face. Our son was one in a million, and there will never be another like him.

"We will forever wonder what more he would have achieved, because we know there was so much more to come. The unbelievable amount of love shown following his death shows just how many lives our Alfie touched. We have had hundreds of photos, videos and messages sent to us by everyone who loved him."
