A Bradford resident has spoken out about a “filthy and horrible” pile of rubbish dumped outside a building.

The waste, including plastic, full bin bags, mattresses and furniture, was reportedly dumped outside the old Oddfellows pub at the Beckside Road and Clayton Road junction in Lidget Green at the weekend.

A resident said he first saw the rubbish on Saturday morning.

He added: “Rubbish has been chucked onto the pavement. It's everywhere.

“I’m a dog walker. This is disgusting as there were piles and piles mounting up and people were having to go through it.

“It's really filthy and schoolchildren had to walk by all that rubbish this morning.

“It's horrible and nasty.”

“There is no respect to others nearby or other businesses, school kids, parents having to walk on the main road.”

It is understood Bradford Council is currently removing the waste.

Rubbish on fire

Rubbish was stacked along the front of the building, while more waste behind it was seen on fire on Sunday afternoon, prompting a call to the fire service.

One of the items of rubbish was an old stereo

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.14pm yesterday to Beckside Road after reports of a fire in the open.

“One crew attended and extinguished some burning waste.”
