A trolley mix-up has left Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd fuming.

The David Platt actor, who was born in Pudsey, shared the story on his On The Sofa podcast.

He described how he was left “robbed” of a rare and expensive item during a trip to Costco.

Shepherd is a regular visitor to the wholesaler with his mother-in-law, who he says has a membership card.

Item placed in the trolley

He said: "They won't get their coffee at Costco either, but I said, 'Just for a laugh, while we're here, why don't we have a little fly down and see what we can get?'"

While browsing the aisles, Shepherd spotted a bag of Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee - normally priced at £240 per kilogram at their usual supplier.

He placed it in his trolley before continuing to shop, unaware of the drama about to unfold.

Coffee disappeared

After leaving the trolley at the end of another aisle, he returned to find it missing.

He said: "Someone’s nicked the trolley, the trolley’s gone.

"And I’m going, 'We definitely left it here.'

"Now I’m blaming the mother-in-law.

"I went, 'Where have you put it?'"

He searched the store and eventually found the trolley on the other side of the warehouse, but the coffee was gone.

He said: "They must’ve seen us find it.

"Someone has literally, deliberately watched us park the trolley and they’ve nicked the trolley and taken it out."

Item was selling fast

A trip to customer service revealed the coffee was selling fast.

He said: "It was £29.99.

"And she went, 'Oh, and you know what?

"It's showing that that's the last bag on the system and it's discontinued.'"

Despite the loss, Shepherd said he wouldn’t have confronted someone if he’d found the coffee in their trolley.

He told co-podcast hosts Ben Price and Colson Smith that he would have just looked them in the eye and smiled.
