A man was robbed of his electric bike in an attack on a Bradford district canal towpath.

The 80-year-old was riding along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal when he was knocked off his bike and injured during the robbery.

It took place near Field Lock between Shipley and Esholt between 5pm and 5.30pm on Monday, September 28.

The incident involved two suspects and they made off on the electric mountain/cross country-style bike towards Shipley.

The victim suffered an injury to his thumb, police have confirmed.

Descriptions of the suspects

Police say the first suspect is white, about 5ft 10ins tall and slim but muscular, with wavy mousy-brown hair and brown clothing.

The force adds that the second suspect is tall and slim and was wearing a black balaclava.

He was also wearing a white or cream hooded jacket with a visor.

A police spokesperson said: "The men are believed to have been loitering around the canal in the time leading up to the incident and it is possible canal users who were passing Field Lock at around the time stated may have seen these men.

"Residents living in this area are also asked to check their CCTV cameras in case they have captured anything of interest to this investigation, or to call if they saw what happened."
