A much-loved Greek restaurant has announced it will close later this month.
Paros Greek Restaurant, in Newcastle, will serve its final customers on Saturday, October 24, after nearly six years in business.
The team shared the news in a heartfelt message on social media, thanking customers and staff for their support since opening in February 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A spokesperson for Paros said: "It is with heavy hearts that we announce Paros Greek Restaurant will be closing its doors, with our final trading day on Saturday, 24th October 2026."
"Paros has never been just a restaurant to us.
"It has been our dream, our second home, and a place where so many wonderful memories have been made.
"A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout these years.
"To every customer who visited us, every family who celebrated with us, and every familiar face who kept coming back – you are the reason Paros became so special."
The team also thanked their employees, past and present, and encouraged diners to visit before the final day.
The statement continued: "A heartfelt thank you also goes to our incredible team, past and present, who have been part of this beautiful journey.
"Until 24th October, we would love to welcome you back to Paros for one last meal, a few more memories and a chance to say thank you in person.
"Paros was our dream.
"You made it something special.
"And for that, we will always be grateful."
Despite the closure, the team hinted at plans and invited customers to visit their other venues, Salparo Greek Restaurant in Newcastle City Centre and Kalimera Bakeries in Gosforth and Newcastle City Centre.
The news has prompted an outpouring of support and sadness from loyal customers.
One person commented: "So sad to read this."
Another said: "I absolutely love this place, good luck in you new venture."
A third wrote: "So very sad to hear this – Paros has always been a special place for us."
The Paros team ended their message with a hopeful note, hinting at plans to return in some form.
