A care home in Harrogate is inviting local residents and families to join its residents for an evening of traditional board games this autumn.
Care UK’s Harcourt Gardens, on Harcourt Road, plans to host a games night as part of the provider’s nationwide Bored Games initiative, which aims to encourage people of different generations to spend time together playing traditional games.
The event will also involve a local Brownies group, giving younger visitors the opportunity to join residents for games and conversation.

Hugh Prior, Home Manager at Harcourt Gardens, said: “We are delighted to be inviting the local community to join us for our gaming event and share in an afternoon of fun, laughter and friendly competition.
Here at Harcourt Gardens, we’re proud to be part of the Harrogate community, and events like this are a fantastic way of bringing people together of all ages. Traditional board games have a wonderful way of sparking conversations and bringing back treasured memories, and we’re looking forward to seeing residents share stories from games nights they enjoyed when they were younger.
Whether you’re a board game enthusiast or simply looking for a fun afternoon out, we’d love for as many people to join us as possible. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through our doors and see who will come out on top!
The Bored Games campaign is intended to encourage people to reconnect through traditional board games and shared activities.
Harcourt Gardens provides residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Facilities at the home include a cinema, pub and hair and beauty salon.
