If you have ever watched the Yorkshire Vet, you will have heard of Matt Jackson-Smith.
Matt Jackson-Smith is one of the vets that takes on cases looking after pets and farm animals around West Yorkshire.
The vet works at the Huddersfield branch of Donaldson’s Vets and has featured on the show since 2020, quickly becoming a fan-favourite.
If you are a superfan of the Channel 5 docuseries, you might want to find out more about Matt’s life away from his work.
The Yorkshire Vet’s Matt Jackson-Smith’s life
Matt was raised on a farm and has always been surrounded by animals.
He went to the University of Glasgow, which is the same university that Alf Wight studied at, and graduated in 2014.
In the past, Matt has mentioned how his grandma had gotten him into watching the Yorkshire Vet before he had joined the show.
In 2022, Matt married his wife Katherine and welcomed their first child, Anastasia Maria Jackson-Smith, in 2023.
The pair met through the dating app Bumble and decided to meet at a pub for their first date with Katherine’s dog Harry coming along too.
On the day, Katherine was not feeling well and was about to cancel the date but her dog had diarrhoea and wanted Matt to take a look at him.
Harry is now an important part of the Jackson-Smith family and is the main reason the happy couple are together to this day.
Alongside his work as a vet, Matt is an ambassador for Butcher’s nourishing food for dogs.
If you can’t get enough of watching Matt, he has also made appearances on Channel 5’s Springtime on the Farm and the Yorkshire Vet spin-off called At Home With the Greens.
