A memorial evening in honour of a pub regular has raised funds for charity.
The event took place at the Hyde Park pub in Norton, in memory of Peter Webb, a much-loved customer who recently passed away aged 69.
Landlady Sue Rice, said: "We recently lost a very dear friend who thought of our family as his own as we did him.
"We first met Pete after he retired from Mick Easterby’s racing yard, and over the years he became so much more than a friend — he became part of our family.
"He spent Christmas Day with us, enjoying Christmas dinner around the table with us all. We even had to rename him John, because we already had far too many Petes.
"From then on, to us, he was always Pete/John.
"Pete, you weren’t just a customer or a friend. You were one of our family.
"We all loved you very much, and the Hyde Park simply will not be the same without you. You will be missed more than you could ever know."
In memory of Pete, a fundraising event was held at the Hyde Park on October 3.
Sue said: "A huge thank you to everyone who came along, donated, bought raffle tickets and helped make Pete’s night so special.
"Together we raised an amazing £500 for Racing Welfare in Pete’s memory.
"The amount of people who came to remember Pete, and the kindness and generosity shown, really demonstrated just how well thought of and loved he was.
"It was a wonderful night of memories, music and dancing, laughter friendship – a fitting tribute to a very special man who will be greatly missed."
