Two dogs have been seized from a property in Eastfield following concerns about animal welfare.

Two dogs have been seized from a property in a North Yorkshire town following concerns about animal welfare.

The animals were removed from a home on Manham Hill, in Eastfield, Scarborough, on Wednesday, October 7, after officers from the Eastfield Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant under Section 23 of the Animal Welfare Act.

The operation was carried out in partnership with the RSPCA and Beyond Housing.

An investigation is now underway into an alleged offence of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal under Section 4 of the Animal Welfare Act.

The dogs are currently in the care of the RSPCA and are receiving treatment to support their wellbeing.

PC Megan Smith of Eastfield’s Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

"Animal welfare is everyone's responsibility.

"If you have concerns about the welfare of an animal, please report them.

"Information from the public can play a vital role in protecting vulnerable animals and ensuring appropriate action is taken."

North Yorkshire Police have thanked their partner agencies for their support during the operation.

Members of the public can report animal welfare concerns directly to the RSPCA.

If you believe a criminal offence is being committed, you can contact North Yorkshire Police.
