Two men have been seriously injured and four arrested after two “linked” attacks in Thornaby.

Officers were called to Lansdowne Road and Thorntree Road on Saturday (October 10) after two men were found with serious injuries around 5.30pm.

Two scenes were taped off at the time - but Cleveland Police said it is still working to establish exactly where the attacks took place.

Two men aged 19 and 33 have been taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

The force has confirmed that two 19-year-old men and a 28-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 GBH wounding with intent.

They remain in custody where they will be questioned.

A fourth man, aged 29, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police believe the two attacks are linked.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector David Snaith, said: “Two men have been taken to hospital with injuries and four men have been arrested in connection with these assaults.

“Residents will see an increased police presence in Thornaby, which may be concerning for them, but I would like to reassure everyone that we are taking this extremely seriously and anyone who may have information or concerns can approach our officers and speak with them, or call Cleveland Police on 101.”

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 5.17pm on Saturday (October 10) to reports of a person injured in the Thornaby area of Stockton.
