Amanda Owen reveals who will live at Anty John's as rebuild nears milestone

Our Yorkshire Farm's Amanda Owen has revealed the family still does not know who will eventually live at Anty John's despite moving belongings in.

Amanda Owen has revealed her family still has not decided who will actually live at Anty John's, despite spending three years transforming the farmhouse into a new home.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess and her family have painstakingly restored the centuries-old property near Ravenseat in Swaledale, with the project forming the centrepiece of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.

Work has now progressed far enough for belongings to be moved into the farmhouse and the family to begin spending time there.

But one significant question remains unanswered.

Who is actually going to live at Anty John's?

Amanda addressed the question during Our Farm Next Door: A Behind-the-Scenes Celebration at Everyman Northallerton on September 30.

And despite the property repeatedly being described as the family's new home, she admitted there is currently no firm plan for which members of the Owen family will eventually move in.

Amanda said: "It's not been decided yet about who will live at Anty John's.

"We've taken up loads in the Land Rover and moved some stuff in, but we still don't fully know who is going to live there."

Part of the uncertainty comes from how quickly the lives of Amanda and former husband Clive's nine children are changing.

The siblings viewers first watched growing up together at Ravenseat on Our Yorkshire Farm are increasingly heading in different directions.

Amanda told the Northallerton audience: "With some kids wanting to go to university, some starting their lives elsewhere and others wanting to farm, we're unsure of people's futures."

She had earlier spoken of her pride in seeing the nine children make their own choices, revealing some are interested in university, some are developing companies or running businesses and others want to continue farming.

That makes deciding who Anty John's should ultimately accommodate considerably more complicated than when the project began.

The restoration itself is now entering its third year.

Wise Owl Films, which makes Our Farm Next Door, has revealed the plastered walls are finally dry, allowing painting to begin, floorboards to arrive and furniture Amanda has collected over the years to be moved into individual rooms.

The family will also tackle the major job of bringing a piped water supply across the moors and into the house for the first time.

And by the end of the forthcoming series, Amanda and the girls will prepare for their first sleepover at Anty John's.

None of that, however, means a permanent resident has been chosen.

While the future human occupants remain uncertain, the Owen children apparently already have plans for some other residents.

Who owns Amanda and Clive Owen's Ravenseat Farm and could they ever have to leave?

Amanda revealed: "The kids have decided we need a stable next to Anty John's and the animals that will be moving in, but there's no plan of actual people moving into the place."

Animals have always been central to life at Ravenseat, where the family keeps a large flock of sheep alongside cows, goats, horses and ponies, peacocks and chickens.

The proposed stable suggests that farming and animals will also become part of life around Anty John's as the project develops.

But Amanda's comments clarify something viewers may have assumed would already have been decided after three years of restoration.
