Detective Chief Superintendent Tanya Wilkins, head of the Professional Standards Directorate, said: "Reducing sexual offending against women remains a key focus for West Yorkshire Police, and we do all we can bring those responsible for this offending to justice.

"The public rightly expects police officers who protect them to operate to the highest standards, and we will absolutely not tolerate one of our officers acting in the manner that PC Blagbrough did.

"Gross misconduct proceedings will now commence following his conviction."
