A popular riverside spot is getting set for year-round operation with a new addition to its site.
The Riverfront York, based along the banks of the River Ouse in Bishopthorpe, has unveiled its Riverfront Marquee.
Designed as a warm, covered retreat, the temporary marquee aims to give visitors a cosy spot to relax, grab a drink, and take in the riverside views throughout autumn and winter.
The new addition builds on the success of the site’s popular all-weather pods and forms part of an ongoing investment programme by the family-run business.
Located right at the heart of the site, the marquee will offer extra undercover seating for guests visiting the Café Bar.
It is also set to become a focal point for the venue’s winter calendar, hosting a lineup of seasonal events, live music, and special entertainment evenings.
Visitors looking for a unique setting for Christmas parties or family get-togethers will also be able to hire the space for private events.
Kerrie Cook, director of The Riverfront York, said: “We are always looking for ways to enhance the experience for our visitors and create even more reasons for people to spend time at The Riverfront York throughout the year.
“The new marquee is a fantastic addition that gives guests somewhere warm, comfortable and welcoming to enjoy during the winter months, while also providing an exciting new space for events and private functions.
“We are looking forward to seeing it become a hub of activity over the coming season.”
The venue, located three miles from York city centre, features a mix of camping facilities, riverside stays, beauty and wellness services, and the award-winning Bosun’s Restaurant.
The site enjoyed a bumper year in 2025, recording more than 68,000 visitor transactions and bookings.
While the marquee will only be in place for the winter season, bosses promise a packed calendar of activity before the spring arrives.
