A Premier Inn hotel guest has spoken out about his "distressing" stay during a five-night booking.
Tahir Rafiq, a business customer and director of Elite Travels & Minibuses Ltd, stayed at the Premier Inn Bradford Central in September 2026 while attending a wedding, but said the experience left him questioning his trust in the brand.
Mr Rafiq, from Bradford, said: "We booked five nights at Premier Inn for a wedding.
"I’m a Premier Inn Business customer and have trusted the brand before, so to be treated this way when we raised serious concerns was incredibly disappointing."
He claims that the air conditioning in his room was not working to such an extent that the heat "became unbearable".
He said: "My partner became extremely distressed and experienced breathing difficulties."
He claims he requested a fan from staff but felt the concerns were "dismissed."
He said the experience was particularly difficult due to a skin condition and gout, which he said can be exacerbated by poor sleep.
Premier Inn said the air-conditioning was in fact in working order.

Mr Rafiq said, while still at the hotel, further conversations with staff left him "shocked," and claims a staff member told him: "If it was that much of an issue, you should have left and got another hotel."

He added: "We had already paid for our accommodation and planned our stay around the hotel.
"We didn't expect that, after raising concerns about the room, we would effectively be told that our solution was to leave and find somewhere else."

Mr Rafiq also raised concerns about cleanliness, including visible mould in the bathroom and what he described as "unacceptable" handwash.

What the hotel chain had to say
A spokesperson for Premier Inn said: “We’re sorry to hear that the guest was disappointed with their stay.
"Our teams are available 24/7 to support our guests and, while several solutions were offered during the stay, unfortunately these did not meet the guest’s expectations.
"We have apologised for their disappointment and hope to have the opportunity to welcome them back to one of our hotels in the future.”

The popular accommodation chain also said that a number of solutions, including moving to alternative rooms, were offered to Mr Rafiq but were declined.
Mr Tariq told the T&A that he is not satisfied with the response from the hotel.
