The National Railway Museum in York will open a temporary entrance later this month as its transformation continues.
The South Yard entrance has been eight months in the making and is part of the wider redevelopment.
A spokesman for the National Railway Museum said: "We are delighted to open this new, temporary entrance, which will make arriving at the museum easier for many visitors during this important phase of redevelopment.
"We would like to thank visitors for their continued support and patience as we invest in the museum's future and create new opportunities to discover the story of railways past, present and future."
The new Central Hall will become the museum’s permanent main entrance and provide level access for the first time.
The spokesman said: "Throughout this period, we continue to listen carefully to feedback from visitors and colleagues and use these insights to help inform improvements across the site.
"The National Railway Museum is committed to being Open For All.
"Throughout our transformation, we continue to focus on improving access, wayfinding and overall visitor experience."
