From the outside, visitors could be forgiven for expecting a conventional garden centre café.
But tucked behind Daleside Nurseries near Harrogate is a restaurant which has caught the attention of the Michelin Guide.
Paradise Café is situated at the garden centre on Ripon Road in Killinghall and is led by experienced chef Frances Atkins.
Rather than the standard café menu people might expect from the setting, Paradise offers a regularly changing selection of seasonal dishes.
Michelin itself acknowledges the contrast.

Its inspectors say the café name and location at the back of a garden centre "belie the standard of cooking found inside."
The guide praises Atkins and her team for producing "seasonal food which is fresh, straightforward and packed with flavour."
Paradise also has a spacious dining room and a terrace overlooking a lake, which Michelin recommends during the summer.
Atkins is well known in Yorkshire food circles after a lengthy career in fine dining, but Paradise has a deliberately more relaxed format.
That hasn't stopped customers from comparing what comes out of the kitchen with food found in more formal restaurants.
The business has attracted a 4.4 out of five Google rating.
One of the recurring themes among diners is surprise at discovering cooking of that level inside a garden centre.
A 2026 visitor summed up the distinction particularly neatly, writing: "This is not a garden centre café, it is a quality restaurant."
They praised the flavours, presentation and service and said they could not wait to return.
Another diner described a meal as "excellent from beginning to end", while a further visitor said the cooking came "close to perfection".
The Michelin Guide also praises the restaurant's service, noting that members of the team have worked alongside Atkins for years.
Paradise isn't entirely disconnected from its garden centre surroundings, however.
Large planters feature inside the dining room, and the waterside terrace provides the sort of setting that would be at home at a destination nursery.

It is that combination which arguably makes Paradise unusual.
Customers can visit Daleside to look at plants and gardening products before eating food from a kitchen run by one of Yorkshire's most experienced chefs.
The café is currently open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am until 5pm, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
It also offers brunch, has parking, wheelchair access and allows pets.
