Amanda Owen has opened up about her relationship with former partner Clive, revealing how the pair continue to make family life work following their split.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess and Clive became household names alongside their nine children through Channel 5's Our Yorkshire Farm, which documented their unconventional life at remote Ravenseat in Swaledale.

Amanda and Clive announced their separation in June 2022 after 22 years of marriage, but have remained closely connected through their children and farming life.

They have also returned to television together in Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids, which follows the family as they restore centuries-old Anty John's while continuing life at Ravenseat.

Now Amanda has spoken candidly about what her relationship with Clive looks like away from the cameras.

Speaking at Our Farm Next Door: A Behind-the-Scenes Celebration at Everyman Northallerton on September 30, Amanda said that although they are no longer together as a couple, they remain co-parents and have found a way of making that relationship work.

She said the pair still "have a laugh" together before recalling an exchange which she believes perfectly summed up their relationship.

Amanda remembered appearing on stage to discuss their separation when her phone suddenly went.

The person trying to contact her was Clive.

She recalled: "I remember when everything happened and we split and I sat on the stage talking about it and my phone went and it was Clive saying, 'There's nothing in the fridge for tea.'

"And me saying, 'Yes there is', and him replying, 'Not proper food'.

"It encapsulates us really."

For Amanda, the everyday nature of the conversation demonstrated how their family relationship continued despite the end of their marriage.

She said: "That's how things work, it's real life and we're authentic and ourselves on the screens.

"What you see is what you get with us."

Amanda and Clive share nine children, Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clemmie and Nancy, whose lives have remained closely connected with Ravenseat as they have grown older.

Amanda also spoke during the Northallerton event about her pride in seeing the children take increasingly different paths, with some considering university, others building businesses and some wanting to remain in farming.

The former couple continue to work alongside one another too.

Clive remains involved in the restoration of Anty John's and will again feature with Amanda and the children when Our Farm Next Door returns for its fourth series.

Why have Amanda and Clive Owen bought Anty John's despite already having Ravenseat?

The programme's production company, Wise Owl Films, has said Clive and the children will continue helping Amanda as work moves forward inside the farmhouse.

Amanda's comments offer a glimpse of the relationship behind those scenes.

Rather than suggesting the pair have reunited, she described an arrangement in which they remain connected as parents, continue working together and are still able to laugh about the ordinary frustrations of family life.

And for Amanda, a phone call from Clive complaining there was no "proper food" in the fridge summed that up better than anything else.

"It encapsulates us really," she said.
