Amanda Owen reveals daughter was 'fired' from Ravenseat job after customer encounter

Amanda Owen has revealed daughter Clemmie was fired by sister Edith from Ravenseat's cream tea van after an encounter with a customer.

Amanda Owen has revealed her daughter Clemmie was "fired" from the family's famous Ravenseat cream tea van after sighing when a customer asked for a photograph.

The amusing incident was revealed as the Yorkshire Shepherdess spoke about the roles her children are increasingly taking on around their remote Swaledale farm.

Cream teas have a long history at Ravenseat, with Amanda serving refreshments to walkers passing through the farm years before the family's lives became known to millions through Our Yorkshire Farm.

The farm lies on the popular Coast-to-Coast walking route and Amanda previously estimated around 16,000 walkers passed through each year.

She has even credited those early encounters with visitors as helping begin the family's television journey, previously explaining that "it began with making cups of tea" for people walking through Ravenseat.

New details about series four of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids reveal Edith and her sisters preparing the cream tea van for its summer opening, while Edith balances the business with her exams.

But it appears not every sibling has proved an ideal employee.

Speaking at Our Farm Next Door: A Behind-the-Scenes Celebration at Everyman Northallerton on September 30, Amanda revealed younger daughter Clemmie had been helping her sister.

Amanda said: "Clem works hard on the farm and also helps on the cream tea van that Edith is running.

"Although she did get fired from the van. Someone asked for a photo, and she audibly sighed, so Edith decided to get rid of her."

The revelation prompted amusement during the event, although Clemmie's dismissal may not be permanent.

Amanda added: "Although she might well have another stint in the van, we'll have to see."

Edith taking charge represents the latest chapter in a tradition which has become closely associated with Ravenseat.

The refreshments have historically provided a welcome stopping point for walkers passing through the isolated part of Upper Swaledale.

The cream teas returned during summer 2026, with visitors offered homemade scones, tea and coffee at outdoor seating overlooking the Yorkshire Dales.

Edith's new responsibility will also feature when Our Farm Next Door returns for its fourth series.

Wise Owl Films has revealed the Owen children will increasingly follow different paths, with Edith preparing for key exams while taking the reins of the cream tea operation.

Her younger sister's employment prospects, however, appear rather less secure.

After telling the Northallerton audience that Clemmie had been dismissed for her less-than-enthusiastic response to a photograph request, Amanda left open the possibility that Edith could eventually give her another chance.
