A CRASH has closed a major road in North Yorkshire.
In a statement issued this morning, the county's police force said it happened on the A169 between Saltergate Bank and Lockton, outside Pickering.
Emergency services are at the scene, police said and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
Diversions are in place for those already on the route, police said.
The A169 is one of the main roads in the area connecting traffic from the A170 across the North York Moors to Whitby and the North Yorkshire Coast.
