PLANS to support events held at a York brewery have been lodged following their success since they began this summer.

Trig Brewery has applied to licence its premises, in Northminster Business Park, so it can continue to open it as a taproom once a month and potentially host other events.

The application lodged with City of York Council would also allow it to sell its drinks to the public for consumption off the premises on days when events are not taking place.

A spokesperson for the brewery said approval would help with its plans to continue its once-a-month taproom events into the winter and next year.

The plans follow the launch of the events in July.

They currently see the brewery, in Unit 2A, Harwood Road in the Upper Poppleton business park, open to the public for one weekend a month.

The brewery's application stated the premises would host its public taproom events for a maximum of three times in a calendar month.

It added the changes would also allow it to supply drinks mainly sold on its website.

Trig Brewery's premises would be licensed to supply alcohol for on and off premises consumption from 12pm to 11pm every day if the council approves the application.

Drinks would be available to buy online any time but collections would only take place during its opening hours which are the same as the licensing times applied for.

The brewery's spokesperson told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) it was currently running its taproom through temporary events notices (TENs).

They added approval of the application would allow it to put them on without having to apply for a TEN every time and to occasionally host more.

The spokesperson said: "We have been holding our monthly taproom events under Temporary Event Notices since last July.

"They have been really well received this year and we plan to continue them throughout the winter and into next year.

"We are now applying for a full license to better plan events.

"The taproom events will still be held for one weekend a month within the brewery itself."

Trig Brewery launched in 2023 and takes its name from 'triangulation stations' or 'trig points' often used to identify the highest point on a landscape, according to the company's website.

Its products are sold in York and across the North including in Leeds and Newscastle.

The brewery's licence application is open for public comments until Wednesday, November 4.
