More than 10,000 participants are set to take part in returning Yorkshire marathon festival this month.
Residents and visitors are advised that a number of road closures and access restrictions will be in place across York for the festival. The Yorkshire Marathon Festival will take place on Sunday 18 October.
The hugely popular event is for all ages and abilities, and features the Yorkshire Marathon, Yorkshire 10 Mile, and Yorkshire Marathon Relay.
The day will begin with the Altra Yorkshire Marathon and Yorkshire Marathon Relay at 9:30am, starting from the University of York campus. Participants will follow a scenic route through the historic city centre before heading into the surrounding countryside and returning to the university finish line.
The Altra Yorkshire 10 Mile will set off at 10:15am, covering much of the same route over a shorter distance, offering a more accessible challenge while still delivering the unforgettable atmosphere and support of marathon day.
Participants are invited to wheel, walk, jog or run their way round the course as organisers work to make the event as inclusive as possible.
The festival is organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All – who have announced the series of road closures and restrictions that will be in place to ensure the safety of all those taking part.

“We understand that an event of this scale can result in some temporary disruption, and we would like to thank residents, businesses and local communities for their patience and support throughout the weekend.
“Our team will work hard to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure roads are reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.”
