A serving police officer has been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman after a party.

Jack Blagbrough, 32, assaulted the woman at a house in the Bradford area on 23 August 2024.

He was found guilty after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court and will be sentenced on 15 December.

The serving Kirklees officer will face disciplinary proceedings, West Yorkshire Police said.

During the trial, jurors heard Blagbrough and the woman travelled by taxi to a house in the Bradford area with their friend, where Blagbrough had previously arranged to spend the night.

Blagbrough said the woman cleaned up the vomit of their friend and made a sandwich for him before sitting next to Blagbrough on a sofa.

He said he had initiated a kiss, but denied trying to kiss her multiple times, rubbing her back, pulling her onto his lap, touching her bottom and pulling up her dress.

A jury convicted him of the offence on Thursday.

Det Ch Supt Wilkins said: "The public rightly expects police officers who protect them to operate to the highest standards, and we will absolutely not tolerate one of our officers acting in the manner that PC Blagbrough did.

"Gross misconduct proceedings will now commence following his conviction."
