A County Durham fish and chip shop is making waves with its generous portions and wallet-friendly deals.
Godfather chippy in Stanley has stunned customers and viral food reviewers with the size and quality of its meals.
One of those is food reviewer Kyle Gibson, known online as KyleVfood, has amassed more than 236,000 TikTok followers through his North East food reviews.
Gibson praised the chippy, near the Top House on Stanley’s Front Street, in a social-media video posted on October 3, and called the shop’s £6 fish and chips deal “an absolute bargain."
The Sunderland-born creator urged his audience to try the chip shop for themselves.
A commenter described their fish as "three fishes in one."
Another said: "Nice and clean fish. I don’t see any skin! Yay!"
The shop’s £6 fish and chip deal, available on Wednesdays and Sundays, includes fish, chips, and a sauce of choice when collected in-store.
Content creator Jonny Adams rated the chip shop an 8 out of 10, highlighting the "light, crispy batter" as a standout feature.
Reviews frequently mention not just the portion sizes, but the quality too.
One customer wrote: “Really nice. We didn’t even know this place existed, saw it one day, went there the next.
“We’ll be going all the time. Fish and chips are lovely, generous portions, good price. That’s how you get customers.”
Another customer said they had been buying from the takeaway for over 20 years with no issues, adding: "All the lads go there on Friday night even after being miles away.”
