A community education provider is returning the support it received when it began with a gesture of gratitude.
Teach Me Happy has donated £1,000 to Derwent Lions in recognition of the support given to them shortly after opening.
In 2023, just six months after launching, Teach Me Happy received a £1,000 donation from the Lions to help purchase a van.
Three years later, proprietors Adele Lord-Laverick and Georgina Gowthorpe decided to return the favour.
Ms Lord-Laverick said: "We are now in a position where we can give that money back, and it felt like the right thing to do.
"We know that Derwent Lions will be able to put it towards helping others in the local community, and we are delighted that the money can continue to do some good."
The site supports young people who struggle to access mainstream education.
It also offers a mix of holistic and academic lessons for young people who struggle to access mainstream education.
Ms Gowthorpe said: "It feels particularly meaningful to be able to return the £1,000 to Derwent Lions so they can use it to support another local cause.
"It is a lovely example of how a helping hand at the right time can come full circle."
