A display of aviation art by an award-winning illustrator is being held at the Yorkshire Air Museum next month

Aviation illustrator and comic artist Keith Burns will display his work at the Yorkshire Air Museum on Saturday, October 17.

Mr Burns has illustrated comics for almost 20 years, specialising in Second World War aviation stories.

He is best known for his collaborations with comic writer Garth Ennis on titles such as Johnny Red, Out of the Blue and The Boys, and his artwork has appeared in 2000AD, Commando and at the RAF Club in London.

Jerry Ibbotson, marketing and communications manager at the Yorkshire Air Museum, said: "Keith Burns is a real legend in the world of comic and graphic novel art, and he also has a real passion for aviation.

"His work really jumps off the page, and you can almost smell and hear the rattle of machine guns in his images.

"So, it’s a huge honour for us to have him display his art here at Yorkshire Air Museum on Saturday, October the 17th.

"He’ll be on hand to talk about his work and do some signings.

"For fans of both comic art and aviation, it’ll be a real treat."

A member of the Guild of Aviation Artists, Mr Burns has twice won the Aviation Painting of the Year Award.

He has illustrated 12 Ladybird books on the Second World War and recently painted the 6,000th cover of Commando comic.

The exhibition will be included in standard museum admission.
