A 30km charity hike has raised more than £2,100 for Black2Nature.

Organised by biodiversity specialist Environment Bank, the Environment Bank Challenge took place across the Shropshire Hills and Long Mynd on Saturday, September 5, with 15 team members taking part.

The money raised will support Black2Nature’s work connecting young people from minority ethnic backgrounds with nature through outdoor learning and nature-based experiences.

Nick Jarman, Interim Head of Habitat Creation and Interim Head of PMO at Environment Bank, said: "It was fantastic to spend the day in the Shropshire Hills while supporting such an important cause.

"Black2Nature does incredible work helping more young people experience and engage with the natural world, and we're delighted to have raised more than £2,000 to support that mission.

"Nature recovery is about more than restoring habitats.

"It's also about helping people build meaningful connections with nature and ensuring the next generation feels inspired to protect and care for the environment."

This is the second year Environment Bank has organised a fundraiser for Black2Nature, bringing the total raised for the charity to more than £4,500.

Ayesha Ahmed-Mendoza, programme manager at Black2Nature, said: "We’re thrilled to have Environment Bank as a partner, and hugely grateful to the team for getting out and raising some money for us.

"These funds support our trips and enable us to keep getting kids out into nature, running visits such as the one we did with Environment Bank in April in Devon.

"We look forward to continuing to work with them."
