Woman dies at the scene of crash on major road near Yorkshire village
A woman has died following a crash on a major road close to a Yorkshire village, police have said.
North Yorkshire Police said it was called to the A59 near Flaxby at around 3.30pm on Wednesday (Oct 7).
The vehicle involved was a black Vauxhall Corsa which was travelling in the direction of Harrogate, but the force did not reveal how it came to be involved in the incident.
The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed overnight as police carried out investigations.
A statement from North Yorkshire Police said: “The female driver of the Corsa was pronounced dead at the scene. Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this very difficult time.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or the Corsa in the moments leading up to it, or has dashcam footage that may have captured something.
“We are also keen to speak with the driver of a white HGV that was travelling in the opposite direction at the time, as they may have seen something that may help with our enquiries.”
