A York hotel has taken home a top industry honour for its inclusive luxury and 'unforgettable service'.

The Grand, York, was named Independent Hotel of the Year in the Over 50 Rooms category at the Independent Hotel Show Awards.

The awards celebrate excellence and innovation across the UK’s independent hotel sector, recognising outstanding hotels, rising stars in hospitality and quality design.

Adam Dyke, general manager of The Grand, said: "It’s such an honour to have been shortlisted alongside the brilliant hotels in our category and even more so to take home the award for Independent Hotel of the Year.

"We’re absolutely delighted. It’s a credit to the whole team, who work incredibly hard every single day, and a testament to the strength of Yorkshire hospitality.

"Regarded by many within the industry as one of the highest accolades an independent hotel can receive, I’m extremely proud to accept it on behalf of The Grand family."

Held earlier this week at Olympia London, the awards were judged by a panel of leading figures from the hospitality sector, including senior representatives from The AA, the Institute of Hospitality, Boutique Hotelier, PoB Hotels, and Hospitality Action.

The Grand was one of just five hotels shortlisted in its category, following hundreds of nominations.

The hotel, housed in one of York’s most iconic buildings, offers 207 rooms and a range of luxury amenities.

These include the newly-opened SubRosa Spa, which has been awarded Five Bubble Luxury by the Good Spa Guide, a state-of-the-art cookery school, and world-class event facilities.

Dining options include the fine-dining restaurant Legacy, led by Michelin-experienced culinary director Kevin Bonello.

The restaurant, which holds three AA rosettes, will unveil a new dining concept in November focused on Yorkshire produce, provenance, and craftsmanship.

The Grand describes its approach as 'inclusive luxury', emphasising memorable experiences, unforgettable service, and locally sourced food and beverage.
