A festive tractor run has set an ambitious £10,000 target for 2026 to support a cancer charity.
The popular Ripon Tinsel Tractor Run has set the lofty target to raise funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
The run was started in November 2023 by Brian Chandler and Simon Dickinson, who both had brothers-in-law fighting bladder cancer.
With just three weeks' notice, the first run had 18 tractors and raised £1,640, and by 2024, the event grew to 35 tractors, with the run raising £2,653.
In 2025, the event outgrew the Market Place's 38-tractor capacity, prompting organisers to seek sponsorship from local businesses, which helped them raise £7,022.99.
Now, the organisers are aiming even higher.
The 2026 run will take place on Saturday, December 5, starting from Tates Garden Centre at 3pm.
To reach this year’s £10,000 goal, organisers are inviting local businesses, organisations, and supporters to become sponsors.
Anyone interested in sponsoring the Ripon Tinsel Tractor Run — either financially or through a promotional partnership — is encouraged to contact Brian Chandler on 07802 597015 or at brian.chandler@hotmail.co.uk.
The tractor run will pass through various locations, including Bishop Monkton, Roecliffe, Boroughbridge Morrisons, and Ripon Market Place, between 1pm and 6.30pm.
