The team behind a York wedding catering company have described their devastation as the firm prepares to enter liquidation.
Baba Ganoush – Dining by Matthew Hyde Ltd ceased trading last week and will enter liquidation on Friday, 30 October.
Catering for weddings and other events, the company traded for 13 years.
Wedding couples have reported on social media that they were given less than 24 hours’ notice that the company could not cater their wedding.
A spokesperson for Baba Ganoush – Dining by Matthew Hyde Ltd told YorkMix: “We are genuinely devastated for everyone we have been working with – our couples, staff, venues and suppliers.
“Now, we’re working hard with all of them to make the necessary arrangements moving forwards.
“As a family business, Baba Ganoush has been so close to our hearts as we continue to raise our young family.
“We’ve always aimed for the absolute best for customers, and we find ourselves in a very tough position, as sadly so many hospitality organisations are.”
Husband and wife team Matthew and Ashley Hyde teamed up to create Baba Ganoush after meeting in the food hospitality industry.
The website set out the ethos of the company: “Both are fiercely passionate about good food and great service, so back in 2013 they set out on a mission to build a catering company that brings people together over food.
“Baba Ganoush was born at the heart of the kitchen – the kitchen table in a tiny little house in the heart of York.
“Driven by what people really want, rather than the standard three course menu, the Baba team excite people with new ways of delivering food to the table, making each event more of a theatrical feast experience, delighting guests from start to finish.”
Previously based at York Business Park, Baba Ganoush moved to Thorp Arch Trading Estate near Wetherby earlier this year.
The company said it was working with Chris Cox York-based senior insolvency manager of BTG Begbies Traynor.
