A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a series of burglaries in the Yorkshire Dales.
The arrest was made in Langcliffe, north of Settle, after an officer on patrol noticed a suspicious turquoise Vauxhall Vectra parked on Stanforth Road.
The car was unoccupied, with the window down and tools inside commonly associated with burglary.
A man was later seen approaching the vehicle looking "dishevelled, wet-through, covered in mud and freezing cold."
Upon spotting the officer, he attempted to flee but was quickly detained.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "The officer arrested him on suspicion of being involved in a series of nine burglary incidents in the Settle area during the early hours of Wednesday.
"It turned out that he was also in breach of Crown Court bail conditions by being in the area."
The 19-year-old, who has no fixed address, was questioned in custody before being released on conditional bail.
North Yorkshire Police is appealing for information and asking anyone with CCTV, doorbell footage, or dashcam footage of suspicious activity to contact police on 101.
