A car burst into flames in a crash that shut a major road.
The crash happened just before 7pm on Leeds Road near Bradford city centre, bringing emergency crews and causing major delays.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to Leeds Road at 6.45pm last night to reports of a vehicle on fire.
"Two crews attended."
The scene
Firefighters put out the blaze as police sealed off the lower end of Leeds Road.
Social media images showed two fire engines and a police van inside the cordon.
At least two vehicles are believed to have crashed, with other cars visibly damaged at the scene.
The closure diverted buses and affected three services, Metro said.
What have police said?
West Yorkshire Police said the incident did not meet the criteria for a formal comment under their Service Level Agreement (SLA), which limits public statements to collisions involving fatalities, life-threatening injuries or major disruption.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “This doesn’t meet our SLA."
The collisions and major traffic disruption section of the SLA says: "We will only provide details about road traffic collisions where there has been a fatality, life-threatening/life-changing injuries or when the collision is causing major traffic/other disruption.
“In these cases, we will often issue details proactively on our channels to appeal for witnesses or to notify motorists of major disruption.
“We will not provide details about minor injury or damage only collisions.
“Exceptions may be where a police vehicle has been involved.”
