We still have the equivalent of trillions of barrels of oil and gas in the North Sea.
We once had facilities called cracker plants to process the oil into various grades of fuel in this country, including one on Teesside.
We no longer have these facilities so we import our oil, petrol, diesel and coal from abroad.
Where is the environmental, financial or even common sense in that?
How is this kind of madness beneficial to us or the planet?
Importing fuel from as far afield as America is ridiculous.
The carbon footprint alone will be colossal.
And, as with Russian supplies of gas, there is no security when Trump threatens to stop supplying us.
Surely this must make the minds up of those in our Government.
This is wrong on so many levels.

Our countryside, especially here in the North East, is blighted by horrendous numbers of wind and solar farms but will we benefit from these?
No.
Utility bills keep rising to the highest in Europe.
We are no longer a major exporting country but are a massive importer of everything.
For God’s sake stop this path of self-destruction.
