Amanda Owen has revealed her family endured temperatures as low as -14C at Ravenseat as she described just how "punishing" winter can become at their remote Yorkshire Dales farm.
But the Yorkshire Shepherdess says television pictures do not always convey just how extreme conditions can become at their isolated home.
The subject came up during Our Farm Next Door: A Behind-the-Scenes Celebration at Everyman Northallerton on September 30, where Amanda and members of the production team discussed the realities of filming the family's lives.

Amanda said: "People might not grasp how unbelievably cold it is at that place.
"It's remote and the winters can be punishing."
And those conditions proved particularly difficult during filming for the latest series of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.
Amanda said: "The last round of filming started in winter, and some days it was minus 13 and 14 while filming.
"We had loads of gloves, loads of layers and snow is absolutely piling up."
Ravenseat's remote location in Upper Swaledale has always been central to the Owen family's story.
The isolated hill farm sits in the Yorkshire Dales near Keld and is surrounded by the dramatic landscape which has provided the backdrop to both Our Yorkshire Farm and Our Farm Next Door.
But Amanda said living somewhere so remote comes at a price when winter arrives.
She added: "It's great to live in a place like this but it comes with its challenges for farming but also the film crews getting to us."
The fourth series of Our Farm Next Door was filmed across winter 2025 and spring 2026, meaning cameras followed the family through some of the most difficult months of the year.
Snow and severe weather will feature in the new episodes as Amanda, Clive and their children continue running Ravenseat while also restoring nearby Anty John's.
The conditions create challenges on both sides of the camera.
James Knight, creative director at Wise Owl Films, revealed elsewhere during the Northallerton event that weather and access can cause problems for the production team trying to reach the Owens.
He also disclosed that drones used to capture aerial footage of the landscape have even been attacked by nesting birds of prey.
For the Owens themselves, however, winter means the everyday work of farming has to continue regardless of the temperature.

Animals still need feeding and tending, while work at Anty John's has continued through some of the harsh conditions.
The forthcoming series will see the family tackle the particularly difficult job of bringing a piped water supply across the moors and into the farmhouse for the first time.
And while snow-covered Swaledale may provide some of the programme's most spectacular images, Amanda said the reality behind them can be considerably less picturesque.
"The winters can be punishing," she said.
