North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage
following a fatal collision that occurred on the A59 near Flaxby earlier on 7 October 2027.
The collision happened at approximately 3.30pm and involved a black
Vauxhall Corsa which was travelling towards Harrogate.
Sadly, the female driver of the Corsa was pronounced dead at the scene.
Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this very difficult time.
The road remains closed while specialist collision investigators carry
out examinations, and it is expected to remain closed for some time.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes
where possible.
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision,
or the Corsa in the moments leading up to it, or who has dashcam footage
that may have captured something.
Officers are also keen to speak with the driver of a white HGV that was
travelling in the opposite direction at the time, as they may have seen
something that could help with enquiries.
