Woman dies following fatal collision on A59 near Flaxby as police appeal for witnesses

A woman has died following a fatal collision on a major road near Knaresborough as police appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage.

The incident happened at approximately 3.30pm on Wednesday (October 7) on the A59 near Flaxby and involved a black Vauxhall Corsa that was travelling towards Harrogate.

Sadly, the female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this very difficult time.

The road was closed for several hours while specialist collision investigators carried out examinations.

A spokesperson at North Yorkshire Police said: “We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or the Corsa in the moments leading up to it, or has dash cam footage that may have captured something.

"We are also keen to speak with the driver of a white HGV that was travelling in the opposite direction at the time, as they may have seen something that may help with our enquiries. If you can help, you should email [email protected]
