FAMILIES can enjoy free live theatre from an award-winning company across North Yorkshire this October half-term.
York theatre company Next Door But One will perform The Firework-Maker’s Daughter at six libraries across the county.
Cllr Simon Myers, North Yorkshire Council's executive member for culture, arts and housing, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer families the opportunity to experience high-quality live theatre free of charge in their local library.”
He said: “By bringing performances into communities across North Yorkshire, we can help remove barriers such as travel and ticket costs, ensuring more children and families can enjoy the magic of live theatre.”
He added: “Libraries are places of discovery, creativity and connection and we hope these performances will inspire children to explore new stories, spark their imagination and create lasting memories.”
Shows are funded by Arts Council England.
The performances will be held at Selby Library on Saturday, October 24 at 10am, followed by Tadcaster Library at 2pm.
On Thursday, October 29, the production will visit Ripon Library at 10.30am and Northallerton Library at 2.30pm.
The final performances will take place at Scarborough Library on Friday, October 30 at 10.30am and Pickering Library at 2.30pm.
Places are limited and people must book in advance.
Families are asked to contact the relevant library by phone or email as soon as possible to reserve places.
