Judges praised the commitment to quality, with every cheese, wine, beer and accompaniment carefully selected for its flavour, provenance and craftsmanship.
Customers are encouraged to explore products through tastings, recommendations and hands-on experiences that make artisan food approachable and enjoyable.
Innovation also stood out. Love Cheese became widely known for its virtual cheese and wine tastings, which connected tens of thousands of customers across the UK and beyond. The success of those events helped the business expand beyond traditional retail, creating interactive food experiences that introduced artisan cheese to a much wider audience.
The business has continued to build on that momentum with popular in-person tastings, Afternoon Cheese events and collaborations with breweries, distilleries and wine experts. Judges also highlighted the success of its Speakcheesey venues, which have become popular destinations for relaxed cheese and wine dining in York.

Love Cheese was recognised for championing Yorkshire producers and playing an important role in the city's food, hospitality and tourism sectors. Its commitment to supporting local businesses and creating memorable experiences has earned it a loyal following.
The award comes after the business successfully navigated rising costs, supply chain pressures and the challenge of expanding into a multi-site operation while maintaining the quality and personality customers value.
Looking ahead, Love Cheese plans to expand its programme of tasting events, strengthen partnerships with local producers and continue creating unforgettable food and drink experiences.
Judges said the winner exemplifies the very best of independent retail, combining expertise, innovation and hospitality to create a truly unique customer experience.
