A COUPLE from York are celebrating 60 years of marriage today.

Though she declined because she was already courting, William insisted on walking her home and boldly told her he would marry her one day.

Two years later, his prediction came true.

The couple wed in St Aelred RC Church in Fifth Avenue on October 8, 1966, surrounded by friends and family - William was 19 and Doris a year younger.

"We have arguments, but we never stop loving each other.

"We always tell each other, and we always kiss before we go to sleep."
