York's Shambles Market is getting a spooky makeover this Halloween.

Organised by Make It York, the market will offer a self-guided ghost hunt from Saturday, October 24 to Sunday, November 1, as part of the Haunted York half-term celebrations.

Ghosts will be hidden among the market stalls, and visitors can pick up a checklist from the Visit York Visitor Information Centre at 28 Back Swinegate to ensure they don't miss any.

After the hunt, participants can relax at the Shambles Food Court.

In addition to the ghost hunt, the market will host an exclusive night market on Wednesday, October 28, from 7.30pm to 10pm.

The Halloween-themed evening will feature handcrafted goods from local traders and Yorkshire businesses, along with street food and warm drinks.

The event is a chance to support local independent traders and experience one of York's best-known markets in a different light.
