York community nursery to host autumn sale with plants and railways

A community nursery in York is set to host an autumn open day sale.

The Poppleton Community Railway Nursery's open day will be on Saturday, October 17, from 10am to 3pm.

The event, taking place at the nursery in Station Road, Upper Poppleton, will have winter pots, baskets, shrubs, herbs, and perennials on sale.

The nursery's narrow gauge and model railways will be on display for visitors to view or photograph.

Stalls selling books, bric-a-brac, and homemade crafts will also be available at the event.

Run entirely by volunteers, the nursery is a safe place for people with mental health difficulties.

It has a partnership with health agencies in the York area for delivering therapeutic sessions to adults as part of their pathways to recovery.

The nursery is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10am to 3pm throughout the year.
