There’s been major rail disruption today after the line between York and Newcastle was blocked.
Services were unable to travel between the two cities due to a person being hit by a train this morning.
The line has now reopened but disruption is expected until mid afternoon.
Earlier, train operator LNER said: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident near the railway between York and Newcastle / Sunderland / Middlesbrough.
“Whilst they conduct their work all lines are closed. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.”
Major disruption is expected until 1pm. More here.
