The owners of a home-based beauty salon has spoken of their shock after being named one of the best in Bradford.
FS Beauty, on Newburn Road in Lidget Green, is shortlisted for the Telegraph & Argus’ Best Beauty Salon 2026 award.
Sisters Iram and Shazmeen Mohammed run the salon, which offers facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, massages, lash lifts, microneedling and hairdressing.
'It is a complete shock'
Co-owner and hairdresser Iram Mohammed said she was stunned to learn the business had made the competition’s top 10.
She said: "Even though we are a small, home-based and mobile business, it is a complete shock to have been nominated and make the Top 10 for the Telegraph & Argus Best Beauty Salon 2026 award!
"We never expected this in a million years, and to have our hard work recognized on this scale means the absolute world to our family."
'I sat for 30 minutes taking it in'
She added: "When the nomination letter arrived, I wasn't even home!
"My sister sent me a photo of the finalist leaflet.
"I sat for 30 minutes taking it in.
"For being home-based, it is an achievement for us!"
'We provide a bespoke, un-rushed experience'
The salon offers customers choice: they can visit the home-based salon, or have the beauticians come to their own homes.
Iram elaborated: "We provide a bespoke, un-rushed experience designed to make every client feel entirely pampered and cared for.
"We offer a private, meticulous, and deeply ethical approach to beauty that you won't find in rushed high-street environments.
"Our customers are truly the heartbeat of everything we do.
"They feel more like family to us."
How did their beauty venture begin?
The sisters launched the business in 2020, after lockdown, while Shazmeen has been a qualified beauty therapist since 2004.
Iram completed her beauty and hairdressing training in December 2019.
But most importantly, the business has been set up to honour their parents.
Their business name, FS, honours their late father, who died in 2014, and their mother, whose hard work and resilience they see as a “legacy”.
Iram said: "Having faced personal challenges and the loss of our father in 2014, we wanted to build something meaningful that honours our parents' memory.
"Our business is deeply rooted in our Islamic faith, which guides our high moral standards, honesty, and a commitment to making a positive difference in our clients' lives."
