Bradford church looks back on 150 years with special celebration weekend

Children painted wooden fish, and families shared memories as part of a weekend celebration at a church in Bradford.

St James Community Church marked 150 years since the laying of its foundation stone with an exhibition and open event.

Held on Saturday, October 3, the event included fish painting, historical displays, and a look back at infant baptisms, weddings, and past vicars.

The Revd Canon Tracy Milne, priest in charge at St James, said: "We not only had a celebration weekend, but we also thanked God for the way he moved in people's lives in the past, does so now, and is expected to do so in the future.

"The weekend welcomed all to our officially Inclusive Church, celebrated the past and present, and helped us to look forward to a positive future."

Thousands of photographs were on display, donated by current and former members.

These included images from baptism services, holiday clubs, church trips, and playgroups.

A display by the 30th Bradford North St James Scouts was hosted by Scout officers in uniform.

On Sunday, October 4, the Revd Canon Milne was formally inducted as vicar of St James Community Church by the Archdeacon of Bradford during the church’s 150th anniversary service.
