A pocket of natural woodland in an urban setting is helping support a diverse range of wildlife.
The four-hectare site behind Yorkshire Building Society’s (YBS) head office in Bradford was surveyed by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (YWT) as part of YBS’s commitment to improving places for colleagues and communities.
The survey identified high biodiversity value, with habitats likely to support breeding birds, bats and other mammals.
Kate Livesey, environment manager at YBS, said: "By caring for the places around us, we help make good homes and healthy communities possible for more people.
"We are proud to partner with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to better understand and enhance the natural environment around our Bradford headquarters."
Removal of invasive plants and further specialist surveys were among the recommendations.
YWT described the site as a "pocket of natural woodland in a heavily urbanised landscape".
Gabrielle Cruttenden, Nature Based Solutions Lead at YWT, said: "Yorkshire Building Society has taken an important step to survey their grounds, to understand how best to protect and enhance it, helping nature flourish while strengthening the connection between people and the natural world right where they live and work."
YWT is working toward the UK’s target of protecting 30 per cent of land, water, and sea for nature by 2030.
