A man involved in a high-value house burglary has cut ties with the people he was mixing with at the time, a court heard.
Rahand Abdullah appeared at Durham Crown Court after indicating a guilty plea to a charge of burglary when he appeared before magistrates last month.
Abdullah was one of three masked burglars, two of them carrying crowbars, who broke into a house in Northbridge Park, St Helen Auckland, on May 10, 2024.
The burglars stole two watches, jewellery, AirPods, a mobile phone and £60 in cash.
Defendant Rahand Abdullah, 22, will be sentenced for a 2024 house burglary in St Helen Auckland, at Durham Crown Court, next month
Defence barrister Dan Wilberforce told the court: “He’s still young and arrived here as a refugee.
"But he’s now found full-time employment, lives in Cambridgeshire and has distanced himself from those with whom he was mixing at the time of the offending.”
Mr Wilberforce asked Judge Aisha Wadoodi to adjourn the hearing so the Probation Service can prepare a pre-sentence report on the defendant before he is sentenced.
The judge agreed and bailed Abdullah to an address in Newmarket, ordering him to return for sentencing on November 5.
