The Northern Antiques Fair runs at The Garden Rooms and Cloisters at Tennants in Leyburn from Thursday, October 8, to Sunday, October 11, with antiques and artworks from 35 leading dealers.

The star exhibit is a complete 1616 John Speed atlas, a rare Latin edition with 67 original uncoloured maps and its original vellum binding.

A spokesperson for the Northern Antiques Fair said: "John Speed is Great Britain's most famous cartographer.

"His atlas contains maps of every English and Welsh county, with informative plans of county towns, the surrounding islands, maps of Great Britain, Ireland and its four provinces, and general maps of the whole of Wales and Scotland.

"This atlas will always be an important and historical depiction of Great Britain in late Tudor times, prior to industrialisation."
