Harrogate care home saxophonist reaches final of Care Sector’s Got Talent

A self-taught saxophonist who works as a kitchen assistant at Bilton Hall Nursing Home has reached the final of the annual Care Sector’s Got Talent competition.

Ayomide David Adegbite, known as David, is one of just eight finalists selected from an original 85 applicants to take part in the national competition celebrating the talents of people working across the care sector.

David joined Bilton Hall, in Knaresborough near Harrogate, earlier this year and has been playing the saxophone for nine years.

The grand final takes place on Wednesday 7 October at the NEC Birmingham, where the eight finalists will perform live in front of colleagues, friends and supporters before the overall winner is announced.

The winner will receive a £5,000 prize.

From kitchen assistant to saxophone finalist

David is a self-taught musician who balances his passion for music with his work at Bilton Hall. He is now hoping to perform for residents at an upcoming festival at the care home.

David Adegbite, Bilton Hall Kitchen Assistant:

I’m very honoured to have reached the last eight in Care Sector’s Got Talent, and I’m looking forward to performing in the final. The seven other finalists have a huge amount of talent, and I’m wishing everyone the best of luck.

I also feel very lucky to be supported by the whole team at Bilton Hall and We Care Group. Playing the saxophone is something that brings me joy, and to know the team is behind me is spurring me on.

His achievement has also been welcomed by colleagues at Bilton Hall, who say they are looking forward to seeing him perform in the final.

Krishnapillai Sivanandarajah, manager at Bilton Hall:

This is an outstanding achievement for David, and we’re all very excited for his final performance.

We know how hard he works, not only in his role as Kitchen Assistant, but in honing his talent for the saxophone, and we’re all wishing him all the best for the final.

Care home supports residents and staff

David’s success also highlights the range of interests and talents among people working in the care sector, beyond their day-to-day roles supporting residents.

The group provides nursing, residential, palliative and end-of-life care, as well as specialist services including bariatric, young mental health and dementia care.
